First Presbyterian Church of Duncan, Oklahoma begins its history in 1908 when a small group of Presbyterians started holding meetings in the Stephens County Courthouse. They were formally organized in the spring of that same year. On May 21, 1908, the four lots at 8th Street and Ash Avenue and the existing frame church building were purchased from Duncan's Baptist church. Our current sanctuary had its cornerstone laid on August 25, 1933, with a major renovation completed in February, 1978.

Third Sunday of Advent, December 14, 2025
On the third Sunday of Advent, December 14, 2025, Reverend Mark Henslee will speak from Luke 1:39-55 in a sermon entitled "Sing Praise to God." Reverend Henslee writes, "The Bible is full of phenomenal people who rejoice in God in the midst of difficulties they are experiencing. One of the greatest is Mary, the mother of Jesus, honored by the Church as THEOTOKOS, 'Mother of God.' This naming reflects both Mary's role in God's new movement among people and the 'who' of Jesus Christ. Most poets and songwriters express their message in verse or song to their readers or audience. In this striking verse, Mary expresses her feeling of joy and praise to God. She sees and sings of God's gracious goodness as but a single instance of the way God relates to this world."

Music Ministry Sunday school class is excited to present a cantata during worship on Sunday, December 21, 2025. "Love Came Down at Christmas" by Joel Raney has inspired the choir to study harder and reach further. This group is led by Anna Adams, choir director and accompanist for FPC Duncan. Join us on Thursday evenings, December 4, 11, and 18 at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary for rehearsal. Everyone is welcome!
